Clam Digging at Ocean Shores

We went clam digging at Ocean Shores on the day before Easter.  It was a nice sunny day at the beach, which is rare on the Washington coast.  Abe is getting pretty good at getting the clams.  He'll be catching up with his dad soon.  We did the clam gun and he would either get the clam out of the sand from the gun, or reach in the hole and get the clam.

Mei LI's Baby Party

We had a "Red Egg & Pig's Feet" party for Mei Li on March 9 at the House of Hong.  Traditionally the party is held when the baby is one month old, which was also when the mother could leave the house.  Mei Li was born October 21.  We didn't want to have the party during the holiday season, so we waited.  My mom said the reason for that custom is so the mother would not have to go to work out in the fields during the first month.  The red eggs symbolize fertility.  Pigs feet cooked in sweet black vinegar & ginger are good for the mother's milk.

Grandma made the lemon tarts using the recipe from my mom.  These were my mom's tart trays. Emily had a baby party at South China on Beacon Hill.  On the right is a half roast pig.

It wouldn't be a party without Grandmoo's song.

Random pics

Some random pictures of the kidos.
Mei Li having some tummy-times on the blanket Grandma Diane made Abe.
Bathtime!  Mei Li liked her bath chair.  Now we lay her down on a foam mat in the tub.
 She can get pretty tired.
Abe loves to hold his little sister - and make funny faces as his 'smile'.
Since we went vegan again for Lent.  For Valentine's Day we made vegan pizza and Emily made an awesome vegan chocolate silk pie. Yummy!
Here we are taking a walk during our camping trip.
Mei Li and Banjo.  I think this is at 4 months.
Banjo sure likes his little sister.  Aren't they sweet?

Camping fun!

We went camping a few weeks ago at Kanaskat-Palmer State Park.  It on the Green River, and only about 45 minutes from our house.  We stayed in a yurt, which made the trip that much easier.  It had electricity, a little heat, and mattresses to sleep on - it could sleep up to 5 people.  It was pretty cool because since it was the middle of February it's like we had the whole campground to ourselves.  I think we only saw about 5 other groups there.
Abe and Dad making some funny faces while playing cards before bedtime.
Abe getting in his sleepingbag, Abe-style.
Mei Li wore a camping-appropriate bib to boot.
After we walked along the Green River for a bit, we headed back to the yurt for a snack of salsa, guac, and beans.  Is this Abe's Blue Steel look?
Even Banjo got a little tired from our camping adventure.

Cute girl

We have been bad parents when it comes to posting pictures of our cute little girl.  Here are just a few that I've taken with my phone the past few months.
Way to coordinate with the Boppy Little One!
Mei Li like to sport the faux hawk on occasion.
Having some fun with her play are with Brother 'Dood.
All wrapped up after a bath.
