Tuesday's Adventures

Today Emily, Abe and I made our way down to the Lorimer's neighborhood. We met with their neighbor Amy, who is a midwife. We wanted to see if she had any suggestions for Emily to help with this whole breast-feeding business. I had talked to our pediatrician the previous night, and he has said that we could stop giving Abe so much extra-pumped breastmilk - now we can cut down to only 150 - 200 mL a day (we had been givng him up to 650 mL some days). Amy seemed to echo the same sentiment, and that we don't have to be so vigulant with feeding him every 2 -3 hours, which is nice to hear.

After seeing Amy we made a stop at the Great-Grandparent's house to see Abe's Great-Grandpa. We hung out for a while and took some nice pictures. Abe sure had fun with his Great-Grandpa, and his Great-Grandpa had a great time with Abe.Abe and his Great-Grandpa. Everyone loves holding little babies. The three Lorimer's standing together.
Look at how cute little Abe is.
Abe likes to catch some Zzz's while in your arms.

After we got back from seeing Great-Grandpa Bud, Emily and my Mom went to yoga while Scott, Abe and I dropped off our rent check and had an Indonesian lunch (I'm into getting at places/doing things that I can't exactly do up in Anchorage). Now Abe is having a little lunch of his own, thanks to Momma Emily.

Ten Pounds!

Today we took Abram to Swedish to be weighed again.  I guess all of our hard work has paid off, because he gained a whole pound in just one week!  (Also, this was after peeing twice right before hopping on the scale.)  You can really see that Abe is gaining weight.  His belly and limbs are looking much plumper than before.  Also I think that he's finally starting to get the hang of eating.  We put a call into the doctor and hopefully we can start to cut back on all of the pumping and supplemental feedings since his weight gain now seems to be on the right track.  I was beginning to feel like a diary cow.

More 'Juan

Just some more pictures of us on the Island.

Now we're back home in Seattle. We're staying with my family on the Northside this week. We just finished Abe's 1 o'clock feeding, so we're going to Swedish now to get Abe weighed. Hopefully he's up to 9 #, 6 oz.

Here is my friend Cameron and me at a wedding on Saturday. Our neighborhood friend Tommy Hardy got married. The crazy part was that he was marrying a girl named Flan, who happened to be Cameron's cousin. He kept me abreast of UW's progress (or lack thereof) against Standord.
Sometimes Abe doesn't like to wake up to eat.

Berry Pie and Roache Harbor

While we were on San Juan Island we went berry picking. There are a lot of blackberry bushes on the side of the roads by our house. The 5 of us went out and picked a bunch of berries on day. We ended up with 9 cups!!! My Mom made a super tasty pie that we had with vanilla ice cream a few nights later.

One day we made our way up to Roache Harbor. There are many million-dollar yachts anchored there. It's always fun to walk around and look at all the fancy boats. There is also a pretty good place for lunch. I got a lamb burger, and it was tasty. Kind of like a gyro.

The final product thanks to my Mom. You can see our initials in the pie crust.

I love to eat!!!! Lamb is yummy!!!

More San Juan fun

Life on The 'Juan is pretty laid back.  Abe has been a little fussy of late.  He didn't eat a whole lot yesterday, which of course he was very hungry in the night time.  As in , eating at 10, 11, midnight, and 2 am.  Usually he eats every two hours, and three at night.  But a full Abe is a happy Abe, so Emily is happy to fill up his tummy.  He has been eating a little better off the boob, which is always encouraging.

Today we went into town again. We went to get some more stain (Scott and I are staining some wood), Abe had his first trip to the dump to drop off the recycle and an old TV, and now we're at the library.  Nice to see that Grampy Clave made a guest post with some pictures of the Welcome Abe party.
Here is Abe going for a stroll around the neighborhood in his stroller.  He was wide awake, but only for a little while.  All the bumps put him right to sleep.
Here is Mom pushing her son along the path.
Another beautiful night on San Juan Island.
We return home from our evening stroll.

Abe Meets the Rest of the Family

Last Saturday we had a meet the Abe party. The menu included Alaskan salmon caught on our Seward fishing trip & by Jarrod, who gave us some for bringing down a box for his family.

I hope Abe still remembers who his parents are because he is being held by everyone else. On September 26, he will be one month old. It's hard to believe. But it doesn't seem that long ago that we had Emily's baby party either.

The 'Juan

Scott and I went to the UW - USC game on Saturday.  It was crazy.  I haven't heard it that loud in years.  Here we are right after UW pulled off the upset 16-13.
Those fans at Husky Stadium are crazy storming the field.  Every fan has been waiting for a win like this for more than 6 years!!!

Emily, Abe and myself, along with my Scott and my folks went up to San Juan Island Sunday afternoon.  The weather was gorgeous all day long.  We even saw some Orcas jumping out of the water right when we were arriving.  Sunday night we had some burgers, and today we walked down to the beach with Abe.  Sadly, my Dad has to go home tonight (hence we're in town and at the library with internet access).  Oh, we also weighed Abe at the Medical Clinic this afternoon.  Good news!  He's back to his birthweight of 9 pounds!  So that's nice to know.  And he had a real good feed on the Emily's right breast today (sans nipple shield), which is encouraging.

Emily and Little Abe at the bow of the ferry.  Even baby-hair flaps in the wind!

Me and Abe inside.

Here we are down at the beach by our house.  Our house is the light colored one above Emiy's right shoulder.  It's kind of off in the distance.

We're in Seattle!

On Tuesday the whole fam - Abram, Emily, Banjo and I - flew down to Seattle. It was an exhausting day, at least for me. The day started at 6 am (after going to bed after 3am) with a trip to the dog park with Banjo and my mountain bike. I rode around 2 and a half times to tire Banjo out for his long trip. While I was there, Emily was giving Abe a nice big meal. After that we went home, took a shower, and then I took Banjo and travel kennel (which isn't small) to the airport. After a small almost-snafu, Banjo was picked up by the baggage people, and I was off to race back home to catch a cab with Emily and Abe.
At the airport things didn't get much easier, because we had 5 carry-0ns and a baby. But it was nice moving right to the head of the line at the TSA security check-point, since Little Abe was with us. We were finally able to catch our breathe at 11am when we sat down for some yummy Quizzno's.
The plane ride was very smooth. Abe slept for the first two hours, and was awake and alert, but not fussy, for the rest of the flight. Once we arrived in Seattle Hannah, Scott and my Mom were there to pick us up and help with our luggage. Then we went to the Locke's were we had a nice dinner where we would relax and people could meet Abe.
We haven't done too much since arriving here. We went to El Quetzal for lunch on Wednesday, and South China for dinner with my folks, Emiy's parents, and Jacob and Jenilyn later that night to taste the baby party menu. On Wednesday we went down to the Swedish Infanct Special Care Unit with Katie so we could weigh Abe (good news - he's up ato 8 pounds, 10 oz) . It's good to know people, like doctors, who can help you out. Later we took a walk down to Mapplewood park. We were able to use Abe's new stroller.
Tonight I am going to the Mariner's game with a friend from college, Rich. Hopefully the weather stays nice for the game. And then tomorow I'm going to the UW - USC game with my brother. I have to get my Seattle sports fix while I can!
Look who we ran into at Mapplewood, none other than the Fightin' Irish football team. There sure were a lot of them.Katie, Abe, Emily and Saddie having a nice walk in the park. It was such a nice day that we had to get out and enjoy the weather. All of that nice kind of weather has left Anchorage.
Abe in his turtle suit conked out from his stroll.
Sarah stopped by after work. Here she is give Abe a bottle.
Abe sometimes likes to have tummy time during the day. Here he was enjoying himself with Sarah and Katie, and Banjo.

Happy Birthday Grandpa David!!!

Today is my Dad's birthday. Today he returned home from his trip up to Alaska with my Mom. They made it home to Seattle in time to bask in the glow of U-Dub's first win in 15 games.

Today Sophie and Todd invited us over to hang out with them, eat a little lunch, and watch some college football. They even invited Banjo to come along too. They have a dog of their own named Reily that Banjo could play with. Their 18-month old daughter Solette really loves dogs, so of course she took an immediate shinning to Banjo. She loved it when he would chase her around the house (really). She would even grab crackers to entice him.
We gave young Abe his first bath Friday night. He didn't seem to like it that much - at least that what we gathered from all of his screaming. We didn't want to get the water too hot, but we think we might have erred a little too much on the cooler side, so little Abram might have been cold at the end.
We got a nice bath-time washer-mit from Laura. Abi (the DNA tech manager) also gave us a duck thermometer to test the water.
Here is Abe all nice and clean. Notice a theme at all during bath-time??? (Hint: look at the towel)
Here is the Mom have some quality rocking time with her newly clean son before bedtime.
Here is a nice picture of the fam hanging on the couch.
